Collaboration with KU Leuven – Performance Evaluation of the miDiagnostics COVID-19 PCR Test for Rapid SARS-CoV-2 Detection on Nasopharyngeal Swabs

Leuven, 24 April 2023

Research article published in the ASM (American Society For Microbiology) Journal of Clinical Microbiology.

In this collaboration between the University of Leuven and miDiagnostics the paper observed that the “commercially available and CE-IVD certified miDiagnostics COVID-19 assay shows excellent diagnostic performance in symptomatic patients with a fast turnaround time, allowing for rapid communication of an accurate result to the patient and his physician” and concluded “the miDiagnostics COVID-19 PCR test achieved excellent clinical accuracy with short turnaround times. The fast and reliable results may lead to faster correct diagnosis and tailored medical management decisions regarding COVID-19.”

Katleen Verleysen, CEO of miDiagnostics:

“Hard work always pays off! Very nice collaboration between the miDiagnostics team and top team of #UZLeuven: Prof. Katrien Lagrou, Ass. Prof. Jan Verbakel and Dr. David Bos, resulting in this nice paper … Thank you all!”

David Bos, General Practitioner at Huisartsenpraktijk Arenberg – Research Assistant at EPI-Centre wrote:

“In this study we demonstrated the excellent clinical accuracy of the miDiagnostics COVID-19 PCR test with run times under 15 minutes and total turnaround times from test to result of approximately 25 minutes. The fast and reliable results may lead to faster correct diagnosis and tailored medical management decisions regarding COVID-19.”
